DC Women's Golf Takes Second at Defiance Invitational
DEFIANCE, Ohio – A trio of Yellow Jackets notched top-10 finishes for the women’s golf team, leading DC to a second-place showing at its three-team Defiance Invitational at Eagle Rock Golf Club.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – A trio of Yellow Jackets notched top-10 finishes for the women's golf team, leading DC to a second-place showing at its three-team Defiance Invitational at Eagle Rock Golf Club. Sarah Westfall, Kelly Beard and Taylor Tuttle all finished among the top-nine competitors on Monday.
Westfall's fifth-straight, sub-100 score over 18 holes to open the 2011 campaign paced the Jackets, as the sophomore's 97 was good for a fourth-place finish. Beard followed up Westfall with a 98 to end in sixth position, while Tuttle's 108 put her in ninth position.
Rochester won the team championship with a 386 on the strength of medalist Danielle Godair's 94. DC finished in second place with a 420, with IU-East rounding out the team standings with a 437.
Defiance will continue its fall season on Sunday, when it hosts the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Invitational at 10:00 am. The single-round tournament will serve as a preview for the 36-hole HCAC Championships hosted by DC on October 8 and 9.
