Lady Jackets Take Eighth at Manchester Invite

WABASH, Ind. – The Defiance College women's golf team continued its fall season on Saturday, with a single-round at the Manchester Invitational. The Jackets ended eighth in the 11-team field with a final score of 404.

Kelly Beard recorded the lone top-25 finish of the afternoon for Defiance, carding a 94 to end in a tie for 21st. Sarah Westfall also cracked the 100-shot barrier to finish in 27th with a 97 over 18 holes.

St. Francis claimed the team title with a 343, while Hanover (347), Manchester (355), Anderson (362) and Mount St. Joseph (374) rounded out the top five.

USF also claimed the top individual spot, with Lakin Davis taking medalist honors with a score of 80.

DC will compete on its home course for the first time this season, when it hosts the Defiance Invitational on Monday, September 19. Action is set to start in the 18-hole tournament at 10:00 am at Eagle Rock Golf Club.
