Yellow Jackets Close Season at HCAC Championships
ANDERSON, Ind. – The 2010 campaign came to an end on Sunday afternoon for the Defiance College women’s golf team, as the Jackets placed eighth at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship hosted by Anderson University.

Hanover won the team championship by 16 strokes with a two-day total of 667 at the Anderson Country Club. Transylvania finished in second with a 683, while Franklin rounded out the top three with a 693.
The individual championship also came down to Hanover and Transylvania, as HC's Molly Burpo and TU's Megan Foley ended the 36 holes in a tie at 161. Burpo then claimed the championship be defeating Foley in a playoff.
Defiance carded an 803 to end in eighth place, despite carding its lowest final score at the event in three years. Sarah Westfall concluded her strong freshman season with a top-25 finish and a 187, while Phoenix Golnick (194), Kelly Beard (205) and Taylor Tuttle (217) also scored for the Jackets.
DC is poised to continue its recent improvement, as the squad is set to return all six competitors for the 2011 campaign.
