COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Defiance College women's golf squad played in the Capital Invitational on Sunday afternoon and came home with a ninth-place finish at the Phoenix Golf Club.
The team championship was won by Baldwin-Wallace with a total score of 338 to top John Carroll by 10 shots. Capital (355) took third, with Wilmington (369) and Urbana (373) rounding out the top five.
Defiance shot a 406 to end in ninth in the 10-team field and was led once again by Phoenix Golnick, who shot a 96 to end in 22nd. Kelly Beard carded a 101, while Sarah Westfall fired a 103 and Taylor Tuttle ended with a 106.
John Carroll's Jaqueline Leuby won the medalist honors by shooting a 76 over the 18-hole event, while Capital's Erin Keeth took second with a 79.
Defiance will be back in action on October 1 and 2 at the Heidelberg Invitational, before closing the 2010 campaign in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on October 9 and 10.
