Beard and Golnick Lead Women’s Golf at Spiess Memorial
WAUSEON, Ohio – Defiance College narrowly missed a tournament championship on Tuesday afternoon, finishing just six shots back of Rochester in the team standings of the 18-hole Jon Spiess Memorial at Ironwood Golf Course.

Phoenix Golnick and Kelly Beard each carded a 93 to pace Defiance and earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Sarah Westfall also shot well, posting a 97 and Taylor Tuttle shot a 104.
Defiance's team total of 385 was just back of Rochester's 379 for the team title. Lourdes also competed in the event and finished in third with a 414.
Rochester's Brooke Darah claimed the individual medalist honors with an 82, while RC's Audrie Bedenis won the long drive competition with a distance of 192 yards.
The Jackets will hit the links again on Saturday, as they compete in the Manchester Invitational beginning at 8:00 am.
