Jackets Take Fifth at Two-Day Racer Invitational
LIMA, Ohio – The Defiance College women’s golf team carded a 425 in the final round of the season-opening University of Northwestern Ohio Racer Invitational on Saturday.
LIMA, Ohio – The Defiance College women's golf team carded a 425 in the final round of the season-opening University of Northwestern Ohio Racer Invitational on Saturday. The two-day event was held at Hawthorne Hills Golf Course.
Freshman Sara Westfall earned a top-20 finish in her first collegiate showing, carding a 198 to lead all Yellow Jacket performers on the links. Sophomores Kelly Beard (212), Phoenix Golnick (214) and Taylor Tuttle (223) followed in the standings, with freshman Jessie Marsh closing her first collegiate outing with a 230.
Madonna's Michelle Hall won medalist honors by firing a 158 to edge Malone's Jennifer Snyder by a single stroke. Hall's performance helped Madonna win the team championship with a 680, pacing Northwestern Ohio (719), Urbana (750), Indiana-East (825), Defiance (845) and Lourdes (936) in the standings.
DC will play another 36-hole tournament next weekend, when it competes in the Anderson Invitational on September 4 and 5. The event will begin on Saturday at noon.
