Miller Leads Jackets in HCAC Opening Round
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The 2009 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championship got underway on Saturday with the first of two rounds this weekend. Defiance shot a 455 on the beautiful University Club of Kentucky golf course.

Franklin College fired a 334 to lead the eight-team field and will take an 11-shot lead into Sunday's action over Transylvania (345). Rose-Hulman took third position with a 368, Manchester sits in fourth at 371 and Hanover is fifth with a 372. Anderson (393), Mount St. Joseph (433) and Defiance (455) round out the standings.
Tara Miller lead the way for the Jackets with a 107, while Phoenix Golnick shot a 111, Brittany Gow carded a 114 and Kelly Beard and Taylor Tuttle each finished at 123.
Franklin's Brittany Stephens and Transylvania's Megan Foley each fired a 77 and will battle for the HCAC Individual Championship on Sunday. FC's Natalie Daugherty finished in third with an 83.
The Jackets will close out the 2009 season on Sunday, when the final round of the HCAC Championships begins at 11:00 am.
