DC Women Compete at Jon Spiess Memorial
WAUSEON, Ohio – The Defiance College golf team headed north to play in the Jon Spiess Memorial Tournament at Ironwood Golf Course in Wauseon, Ohio on Tuesday.
WAUSEON, Ohio – The Defiance College golf team headed north to play in the Jon Spiess Memorial Tournament at Ironwood Golf Course in Wauseon, Ohio on Tuesday. No team scores were kept in the single-round event and all 13 golfers competed as individuals.
The Yellow Jackets placed a trio of student-athletes among the top 10 finishers, as Tara Miller finished ninth with a 96 and Brittany Gow tied for tenth with Kelly Beard, after the duo each fired a 98. Taylor Tuttle carded a 110 and ended in 13th.
Findlay swept the top three spots in the standings, with Erin Craig (78), Megan Hall (80) and Hillary Lawrence (84) leading the way. Rochester's Paige Scarpace turned in an 88 to finish in fourth and Findlay's Erin Rettger rounded out the top five with a 90.
Defiance will hit the links again on Saturday, September 18, when it plays at the Manchester Invitational. The Jackets will then host the DC Invitational on September 21, with play starting at 1:00 pm at Kettenring Country Club.
