DC Wraps Up Season at HCAC Championships
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The 2008 season came to a close on Sunday for the Defiance College women’s golf team. The Lady Jackets shot a 429 for the second day in a row and ended in seventh place with a final total of 858 at the HCAC Championships.

Danielle Ary turned in a two-day total of 208 to lead Defiance at the event with a 28th-place finish. Ary was followed by Tara Miller, who shot a 209 and ended in 30th, while Brittany Gow turned in the best score of the day for DC with a 102 and took 32nd with a 218 total. Cali Deeter and Tracy Sauter rounded out the list for Defiance by finishing in 34th and 35th.
Rose-Hulman's Stephanie Harrington won the HCAC Championship with her two-day tally of 162. Janca Millett (164) and Megan Foley (170) of Transylvania finished in second and third respectively.
The strong efforts by Millett and Foley led Transylvania to the team championship, as the Pioneers beat out Manchester by 22 strokes with a 705. Franklin ended third with a 731, Hanover took fourth with a 738 and Rose-Hulman finished fifth with a 746. Anderson (770) and Defiance (858) closed out the team standings, as Bluffton and Mount St. Joseph did not field teams in the event.
The HCAC Championships marked the end of the season for the Lady Jackets, who are set to return everyone for the 2009 campaign after making major strides as a program in 2008. DC saw its freshmen players turn in the top four scores of the weekend, while helping Defiance shave 233 shots off of its team score from the HCAC Championship one year ago.
