Women's Golf Opens Season at Anderson Invitational
ANDERSON, Ind. – The 2008 fall season got underway on Saturday and Sunday, as the Defiance College women’s golf team took to the links to compete in the nine-team Anderson Fall Invitational.
ANDERSON, Ind. – The 2008 fall season got underway on Saturday and Sunday, as the Defiance College women's golf team took to the links to compete in the nine-team Anderson Fall Invitational.
The Yellow Jackets lowered their second-day score by five strokes and ended in eighth place with a team score of 825. Four of DC's five golfers matched or bested their opening round scores in Sunday's action.
Freshman Tara Miller led the way with a two-day total of 187, while fellow rookies Cali Deeter and Danielle Ary rounded out Defiance's top three with scores of 210. Brittany Gow carded a 218 in her first collegiate event and Tracy Sauter ended with a 216.
Olivet won the team competition with a score of 622, while DePauw (630), Franklin (670), Hanover (687) and Manchester (701) rounded out the top five.
Olivet's Amber Conrad took individual medalist honors with a score of 151, edging DePauw's Nikki Garza by two strokes.
Defiance will be back in action on Sep. 12 and 13 when it plays in the Olivet Invitational.
