Tietje Named HCAC Player of the Week
GREENWOOD, IND. -- Defiance College junior women's basketball player, Kelsey Tietje (Deshler/Patrick Henry), has been named this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
GREENWOOD, IND. -- Defiance College junior women's basketball player, Kelsey Tietje (Deshler/Patrick Henry), has been named this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
It marks the second time this season that Tietje has garnered "Player of the Week" honors.
Tietje helped play a vital role in aiding the Yellow Jackets post a pair of victories this past week with wins against Anderson (Ind.) University and Hanover (Ind.) College.
For the week, Tietje averaged 26.5 points per game and 13.0 rebounds per game. She shot an impressive 80.8 percent (21-of-26) overall from the field, which included a 10-of-12 (83.3 percent) effort against the Ravens, and 78.6 percent (11-of-14) at the free-throw line. She also recorded nine blocked shots and added one steal.
Tietje recorded her 10th and 11th double-doubles of the season this past week and now has 43 for her career. In addition, Tietje has scored 1,225 career points and moves into 11th place all-time on the scoring list.
The Yellow Jackets will host Earlham (Ind.) College on Wednesday, Feb. 3 in a HCAC game at the Karl H. Weaner Center. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
