ALBION, Mich. – After their solid performances from this past weekend, senior Hannah Harshman and freshman Kelsey Tietje were named to the Albion Classic All-Tournament Team. The pair helped DC to a 1-1 record during the tournament.
Tietje (Deshler, Ohio / Patrick Henry) had her struggles from the field over the weekend competition (12-of-30 / 40.0 percent), but still managed to put points on the scoreboard and dominate the glass for the Yellow Jackets. In the victory over Albion, the center recorded 15 points, a career-high 16 rebounds and three assists.
The Patrick Henry product then turned around and posted her fourth 20-point performance in the loss to Olivet. Tietje finished the contest with 20 points, nine rebounds, a steal and a block. This is the freshman's second time being an all-tournament selection, as she was also named to the Baldwin-Wallace All-Tournament Team earlier in the season.
Harshman (Ohio City, Ohio / Parkway) made her mark during the classic with a strong performance across the stat sheet. The senior's averages for the two games were 10.0 points, six rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals. Harshman also notched season-highs of four assists (both contests) and four steals (Olivet) during the weekend.
This is the second time during Harshman's career that she has been chosen to an all-tournament team. The forward's first selection came back during her sophomore campaign when she made the Washington and Jefferson All-Tournament Team.
Defiance will return to action after the New Year, when it travels to Indiana for a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup with the Hanover Panthers. The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 4th.
