DC Places 14 on HCAC's Winter Academic Team
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its winter honorees for the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team, with Defiance putting 14 student-athletes on the list. The 14 award winners gave the Yellow Jackets the third-highest total in the league.

In order to be named an Academic All-HCAC selection, a student-athlete must have completed one full academic year, be enrolled full-time at their institution, be a varsity athlete and possess a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 at the end of the semester preceding the conclusion of the winter season.
Defiance saw seven women's basketball players be recognized among the 14 Yellow Jackets to make the list. The seven honors marked the highest tally from any women's basketball program within the HCAC. The DC women's indoor track and field squad put six on the list to rank second in the league.
DC's doubled its total number of standout student-athletes from the 2011 winter season and has raised the number by 12 since 2010. The 2012 list included Kim Bingley, Ashley Birchmeier, Rachel Ciminillo, Kim Comden, Hannah Harshman, Erica King, Brooke Zachrich, Kevin Tietje, Kate Borer, Stephanie Diemer, Katie Heitkamp, Marlea Rolander, Ellen Stryffeler and Courtney Swabb.
