DEFIANCE, Ohio – Mandie White led the Lady Jackets to conference victories over Bluffton and Rose-Hulman last week and has been named the HCAC Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for the second time during her 2009-10 campaign. She is one of only two players to earn the award multiple times this season.
In Wednesday's 83-71 victory over Bluffton, White posted a career-high 30 points, on 10-of-12 shooting, to go along with six rebounds, three steals and three blocks. White followed that performance with 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals in just 22 minutes of action as the Jackets claimed a 61-42 victory on the road at Rose-Hulman on Saturday.
White has scored in double-digits in 15 of the Yellow Jackets' 18 games this season and currently leads Defiance with 14.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest. The senior center is the only player in the conference that ranks in the top-five in points (5th), field goal percentage (4th), rebounds (4th) and steals (2nd).
The Ottawa, Ohio, native needs only five more points to become just the 18th player in school history to reach the 1,000 career points plateau. She is likely to pass that milestone when the Lady Jackets travel to Anderson, Ind., for a crucial HCAC clash with the Ravens on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
