Defiance Softball drops doubleheader at Hanover Friday afternoon
HANOVER, Ind. - The Yellow Jackets softball team dropped a make-up doubleheader Friday afternoon at Hanover, falling 3-2 and 5-0 to the Panthers.

HANOVER, Ind. - The Yellow Jackets softball team dropped a make-up doubleheader Friday afternoon at Hanover, falling 3-2 and 5-0 to the Panthers.
The two games, which were originally scheduled earlier this season but were postponed due to weather, were made up Friday afternoon and the Yellow Jackets started off strong, answering a run in the first inning by Hanover with a pair of runs in the top of the second to take a 2-1 lead.
Megan Warren helped the Yellow Jackets get on the scoreboard and tie the game at one with a single to left field that scored Makayla McAvoy.
Defiance wasn't finished as Kali Campbell then singled to right field, which scored Warren and gave DC a 2-1 lead.
However, the Yellow Jackets were unable to hang onto the lead as Hanover answered in the third inning with a run via an RBI single.
The game stayed tied at two until the Yellow Jackets had an error in the sixth inning that allowed for a run to score for Hanover that put the Panthers up 3-2. DC was unable to score in the seventh, falling 3-2 to the Panthers.
In game two, the Yellow Jackets were unable to get the bats going, scattering four hits over the seven innings. The game remained tight until the sixth inning.
Hanover scored in the bottom of the first inning with a walk and a stolen base that allowed a pair of sacrifices to score the opening run.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Hanover pulled away with a three-run home run and a RBI single to go up 5-0.
The Yellow Jackets will look to rebound on Saturday with a doubleheader at Franklin. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
