Dicke Dominates in Win Over Framingham State
ORLANDO – The Defiance College softball team split a pair of games in Orlando, Fla. during the Rebel Games over spring break. The Jackets dropped a close game one to McDaniel by a score of 6-5 but responded well by defeating Framingham St. 5-2.
ORLANDO – The Defiance College softball team split a pair of games in Orlando, Fla. during the Rebel Games over spring break. The Jackets dropped a close game one to McDaniel by a score of 6-5 but responded well by defeating Framingham St. 5-2.
In game one against McDaniel, the Jackets got solid performances from a couple of seniors, but were unable to get the win. Senior Katelyn Samples went 2-4 in the game with a run batted in. Senior Aubrie Ridinger also notched a hit in the game.
Defiance rallied back to win game two behind a pitching gem from freshman Lauren Dicke, who tossed a complete game. Dicke allowed two runs on four hits as she dominated the Framingham St. lineup all game. The freshman also registered four strikeouts.
On the offensive side of the ball Katie Miller did a little bit of everything to help the Jackets. The junior went 1-3 with two runs batted in, a run and a stolen base. Freshman Allison Jamiot came up with a clutch pinch hit in the fourth inning to give the Purple and Gold the lead for good.
The win moves DC's overall record to 2-5. The Jackets' final day of the Rebel Games is on Thursday, March 15 as DC will face Springfield at 9:00 a.m. followed by Montclair St. at 11:00 a.m.
