The story of the day for DC was errors on defense. The Purple and Gold committed four errors which led to five unearned runs. Defiance committed just two errors in its first two games of the season combined.
Sophomore Kailea Holbrook was the pitcher of record on Sunday. Holbrook went five innings while allowing five hits and three runs, only one of which was earned. With the loss the sophomore's record falls to 1-1 on the season.
Like the defense, the Jackets' bats had an off-day as well. Defiance managed six hits, all of which were singles, and could not build any momentum throughout the game. Six different DC players recorded a hit in the game.
The second game of the day against Millikin was cancelled due to rain. The game will not be rescheduled.
The loss drops Defiance's record to 1-2 on the season. DC is back in action Monday, March 12 at 9:00 a.m. as the Jackets will face Otterbein.
