Yellow Jacket Softball Receives Academic Honor

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Defiance College softball team was honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for its excellence in the classroom for the 2010-11 academic year. The Jackets posted a cumulative team grade point average of 3.08 naming them a NFCA Div. III All-Academic Team. The team GPA ranks highest for all Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schools.

Four Yellow Jackets, including two returning players, from last year's team received NFCA All-Academic Scholars honors. This honor is only given to players who have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The four players who received this award are Lisa Brophy, Kelly Schnipke, Aubrie Ridinger and Elizabeth Petrie. Brophy and Ridinger return to this year's team as seniors for Defiance.
