Shauna Bowers shook off a leadoff home run in the first inning against Chatham to post five otherwise hitless innings, with three strikeouts and three walks. Tasha Stucke broke the game open in the third inning, with a bases-loaded double that brought three Yellow Jackets home and put the game out of reach. Aarika Davis continued her hot hitting, recording two RBI and two walks in the contest.
In DC's game against Westminster, Schnipke went seven innings, allowing just one unearned run. Aubrie Ridinger, who had posted two RBI and two walks in the first game, had another solid offensive performance, going 2-3 with a double and two runs. After reaching base in the first inning, Ridinger put DC on the scoreboard thanks to a Tasha Stucke sacrifice fly. Marah Robinson and Brittany Gow each drove in a run in the third inning to put the Jackets up for good.
Defiance will wrap up their Florida road trip on Thursday with a 1:00 p.m. matchup against Waldorf College and a 3:00 p.m. showdown with the University of Dubuque.
