DC Picks up Two Wins at Rebel Spring Games
ORLANDO, Fla. – The DC softball team improved to 5-1 on the season after picking up two wins on Monday, downing Wittenberg, 9-3, in their first game before knocking off Eastern Mennonite, 4-3, in the nightcap.

Brittany Gow picked up the win for the Yellow Jackets in the first game, pitching four strong innings before Shauna Bowers came in to finish the show. Aarika Davis continued her hot hitting, going 3-4 in the contest and scoring three of the Jackets' nine runs. Marah Robinson went 1-2 in the game, including a double that drove in two runs in the fourth inning.
The Jackets improved their winning streak to three games with their comeback victory over Eastern Mennonite in the later game. Schnipke pitched the complete game for the Jackets, who came through with some clutch hitting in the final two frames to secure the win for their ace.
Tasha Stucke drove in a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie it up, 3-3, with one inning left in regulation. After holding the Lions scoreless in the top of the seventh, the Jackets got a leadoff single from Brittany Gow to start their rally. Kaycee Butt was the hero, coming up with a clutch RBI to drive in Elizabeth Huffman, who was pinch running for Gow, and secure the victory.
Defiance (5-1) will get one day off before returning to action on Wednesday, March 10, with an 11:00 a.m. tilt against Chatham, before squaring off against Westminster at 3:00 p.m.
