DC Competes at Wilmington
WILMINGTON, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's cross country team sent four runners to the #JennaStrong Invitational hosted by Wilmington College on Friday evening.
WILMINGTON, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's cross country team sent four runners to the #JennaStrong Invitational hosted by Wilmington College on Friday evening.
DC was led by junior Daren Gies (Plymouth), who completed the eight-kilometer course in 32:40.4, finishing in 263rd place. Gies was followed by freshman Tyler Hines (Cincinnati/Northwest), who ran a time of 33:05.2 and finished in 271st position. Sophomore Brandon Zartman (Paulding/Wayne Trace) finished 306th with a time of 36:17.2, while Spencer Ross rounded out the team with a time of 49:14.7, good enough for the 329th position.
Shawnee State University won the meet, followed by Findlay and Berea (Ky.). Berea's Logan McKenzie won the individual title with a time of 25:10.1.
The DC herriers enter the championship portion of the schedule on Saturday, Oct. 28 as they travel to Manchester University for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship meet. The men's eight-kilometer race is set to begin at 12 p.m.
