Krick Strides to Best Finish Ever For DC Harriers at Regionals
ANDERSON, Ind. – Running in the last cross country meet of his career, lone senior Hayden Krick didn’t leave anything in the tank, as the Antwerp, Ohio native registered a 37th place finish out of 256 competitors for the best mark in DC’s cross country history. He ended just two spots shy of all-region (Top-35).
After finishing second on the squad in the past two meets, Krick turned on the burners to run his second fastest time of the year at 26:12.05. The senior was the fourth fastest runner of all Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference runners at the event.
Next up for the Yellow Jackets Harriers was junior Joe Davis. The Ontario High product took first in the previous two meets, but placed second for the Purple and Gold on the day, as he concluded the race with a mark of 26:42.92. The time was good for 77th place overall.
Also, competing strongly on the afternoon was fellow junior Madison Murphy. The Worthington, Ohio native ran his second-quickest time of the season with a 27:35.27. He crossed the finish line in 138th place.
Grabbing the top team spot at regionals was Calvin College who conquered the rest of the field. The Knights placed all five of their scoring runners in the top-13 (three in the top six) to finish with an astounding 36 total points. That was good by a long shot to best second place finisher Wabash, who ended with 111 points.
