Track and Field: Yellow Jackets put together another strong performance at Tiffelberg Invite
TIFFIN, Ohio - The Defiance College track and field teams made the short trip over to Tiffin Saturday afternoon for the Tiffelberg Open and had another strong showing with multiple personal bests at the meet as well as an event win from Lisa-Maria Markau.
Lisa-Maria Markau continued her strong outdoor season so far, winning the 400 meter dash for the second straight week. She won the event with a time of 58.78, which is a new personal best and was two seconds faster than Ashland's Jordan Rosales. Markau also recorded a personal best in the 200 meter dash, placing fourth with a time of 25.76 seconds.
Also in the 200, Myahn Smith recorded a time of 27.63 seconds to earn a new personal best as well, beating out her previous time of three seconds. In the 100 meter dash, Aliza Clark finished 37th and recorded a new best time of 14.10 seconds which was 27 seconds faster than her 100 time at last week's competition.
Shelby Clements competed in the 400 meter dash for the first time and placed 18th. Clements topped her previous best in the 200 by 30 seconds, placing 33rd with a new best time of 28.90 seconds.
In the 400 hurdles, both Tawon Cannon and Montgomery Rollins set personal bests. Cannon placed third with a time of 54.25 seconds and Rollins finished fifth at 55.19.
The Yellow Jackets are back at it next Saturday, April 6 for the Manchester Invitational at Manchester University.
