Men's Track places eighth at HCAC Indoor Championships
The Defiance men's track and field team placed eighth at the 2022 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The Defiance men's track and field team placed eighth at the 2022 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Yellow Jackets reached the podium three times with third-place finishes from sophomore Tawon Cannon in the 60-meter hurdles, junior Ja'Qway Janvier in the 60-meters, and the 4x200 relay team of Janvier, Alijah Fleming, Gavin Maratea, and Cannon.
The Basics
- The event was hosted at the George M. Smart Center in Defiance, Ohio.
- Manchester took the conference championship with 158.50 points.
- Defiance placed eighth with 27 points.
Notable Performances
- Cannon placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.65 seconds after tying for the fastest time in the prelims with 8.64 seconds.
- Cannon also placed fifth in the 200-meters with a time of 23.26 seconds.
- Janvier placed third in the 60-meters with a time of 7.02 seconds after recording the second-fastest time in the prelims with 7.04 seconds.
- The 4x200 relay team recorded a time of 1:33.14.
- Sophomore John Reese placed sixth in the mile with a time of 4:37.58. Reese also placed seventh in the high jump with a mark of 1.70m.
- Sophomore Ron Scott placed 12th in the shot put with a mark of 12.63m.
