DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College men's track & field team hosted the Dick Small Invitational on Friday evening as they prepare for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
The Yellow Jackets were led on the day by Javier Castillo winning the shot put with a toss of 13.88 meters, while also taking third in the weight throw with a distance of 16.56 meters.
In the high jump, Vince Jackson also claimed the top spot with a height of 1.90 meters.
Brandon Zartman posted a strong finish in the 400-meter dash taking third with a time of 59.50.
Justin Bergquist took seventh in the shot put with a distance of 12.53 meters, while Cody Drumm-Turner took sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.73 meters.
In the 800-meter dash, Skyler JoHangten claimed a sixth place finish with a time of 2:13.70, while Turner took ninth in the 60-meter dash crossing the finish line in 7.33.
James Baranoski, Jr. also found success in the weight throw with a toss of 13.48 meters, while Bergquist took ninth in the event with a distance of 12.41 meters.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, February 16 as they host the HCAC Championships.
