Field athletes lead way in Defiance College Open
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The DC Track and Field team were led by the field athletes at the Defiance College Open on Valentine’s Day. A few different individuals from field events saw a top 10 finish in the home meet.

Ryan Johnston (Defiance, Ohio / Ayersville) got things started for the field team in the pole vault. With a height of 3.85 meters, Johnston vaulted himself to a fourth place finish. That finish was the best one DC would see on the evening.
Jake Arnold (Stow, Ohio / Woodridge) saw a top 10 finish for DC in a throwing event. With a distance of 14.13 meters in the weight throw, Arnold secured a fifth place finish for the Yellow Jackets.
In long jump, Aaron Kersten (Linden, Mich. / Linden) finished in eighth place for DC. He jumped a distance of 5.83 meters to secure the top 10 finish.
The 800-meter dash is where the Yellow Jackets saw their best success on the track. Jacob Rindler (St. Henry, Ohio / St. Henry) and Cody Wilson (McComb, Ohio / McComb) finished in eight place and ninth place, respectively. Rindler put up a time of 2:05.95 in the race with Wilson right on his heels with a time of 2:06.62.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action tomorrow at noon. They will be competing at Otterbein University in the All-Ohio Championships.
