Yellow Jackets take second in Dick Small Tri-Meet
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The DC Men’s Track and Field Team fell just short of the win at the Dick Small Tri-Meet. The Yellow Jackets finished in second behind Bluffton by just 15 points. DC secured the second place finish with 92 points.

Several athletes from DC saw top three finishes and a few even picked up victories.
Anthony Nolfi (Akron, Ohio / Ravenna Southeast) had the big day for the Yellow Jackets. He picked up two wins and a second place finish in three different throwing events. In the discus, Nolfi threw for a distance of 40.63 meters to secure the win. In the hammer throw, Nolfi was joined by Jacob Arnold (Stow, Ohio / Woodridge) and Jacob Rodriguez (Ligonier, Ind. / West Noble) to take first, second, and third in the event. Nolfi won the event with a monster 47.47 meter throw. Arnold and Rodriguez followed up with throws of 41.64 meters and 41.24 meters, respectively. Nolfi wasn't done yet, he took second in the javelin throw to go along with his two victories. A throw of 42.77 meters secured the second place finish for Nolfi.
Also in the throws, Luiyi Nunez (North Brunswick, N.J. / North Brunswick Township) took second in the shot put. With a distance of 13.24 meters, Nunez barely got edged out by the winner by a distance of .03 meters.
Staying with the field success, Ryan Johnston (Defiance, Ohio / Ayersville) took second in the pole vault. Johnston cleared a height of 3.65 meters for the runner-up spot. Johnston also finished third in the 400-meter dash with a 52.21.
Troy Parrett (Cedarville, Ohio / Cedarville) had a strong showing for the Yellow Jackets on the track. He won the 800-meter where he continues to be dominate. He finished first in the event with a 1:57.11.
Parrett also teamed up with Joe Davis (Ontario, Ohio / Ontario) Madison Murphy (Westerville, Ohio / Thomas Washington) and Cody Wilson (McComb, Ohio / McComb) to win the 4x400-meter relay race. The four runners edged out the second place team by .74 to win the race. The Yellow Jacket relay team finished with a time of 3:26.22.
Clayton Bruggeman (St. Henry, Ohio / St. Henry) Jacob Merryfield (Gibsonburg, Ohio / Gibsonburg) and Andrew Senecal (North Baltimore, Ohio / North Baltimore) finished with a sweep in the 5,000-meter race. Bruggeman, Merryfield, and Senecal finished with times of 16:52.70, 17:15.22, and 17:21.17, respectively, to take first, second, and third.
George Roth (Defiance, Ohio / Ayersville) also had a strong showing on the track. With a time of 11.86, he finished third in the 100-meter dash.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday, April 5. They will participate in the Huntington Meet with a start time of 12 noon.
