Yellow Jackets compete in Anderson University Easter Invitational
ANDERSON, Ind. – DC Track and Field decided to compete in one last meet before Easter Weekend. They traveled to Anderson University to compete in the Anderson University Easter Invitational.
ANDERSON, Ind. – DC Track and Field decided to compete in one last meet before Easter Weekend. They traveled to Anderson University to compete in the Anderson University Easter Invitational.
The invitational featured very tough competition as three of the six schools were from the NAIA. DC was still able to place seven individuals into the scoring column.
Luiyi Nunez (North Brunswick, N.J. / North Brunswick Township) saw the best finish for the Yellow Jackets on the day. He placed second on the hammer throw with a distance of 46.73 meters. The mark was also a career best for Nunez.
Jacob Rodriguez (Ligonier, Ind. / West Noble) and Jake Arnold (Stow, Ohio / Woodridge) finished in fourth place and fifth place in the hammer, respectively. Rodriguez put a throw of 42.44 meters in while Arnold was close behind with a 41.65 meters.
Anthony Nolfi (Akron, Ohio / Ravenna Southeast)also did well in a throwing event. He finished third in the javelin throw with a distance of 41.07 meters.
On the track, the Yellow Jackets saw a pair of fourth place finishes and a sixth place finish.
Ryan Johnston (Defiance, Ohio / Ayersville) finished fourth in the 400-meter dash. The junior finished with a time of 52.38.
Also coming in fourth was Aaron Kersten (Linden, Mich. / Linden) in the 400-meter hurdles. A time of 1:03.08 put him in the four spot.
Rounding out the scoring for DC was Cody Wilson (McComb, Ohio / McComb) in the 800-meter dash. He placed sixth with a time of 2:01.11.
The Yellow Jackets have the weekend off for Easter but will be back in action next weekend. They will host the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships on Friday beginning at 3 p.m.
