Postema grabbed this latest selection after his solid performance at the Manchester Spartan Classic on Saturday, April 20. The Defiance, Ohio, native made his biggest mark with a school record and first-place throw of 17.04 meters in the shot put event. His distance bumped him up to the No. 3 ranking in all of NCAA Div. III. Postema also came away from the meet with the top spot in the hammer throw (54.41 m) and a fourth-place finish in the discus (44.49 m).
Being chosen for this HCAC Field Athlete of Week honor now gives Postema four selections during the 2013 outdoor campaign, along with the three he earned during indoor competition. In 2012, the Tinora High notched a clean sweep of all four honors during the indoor season, while garnering two outdoor selections.
The Defiance College track and field squad will travel back to North Manchester where the Spartans are hosting the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. Action will kick-off at 12 p.m.
