DC Outdoor Track and Field Reaches Highest Ranking in History
NEW ORLEANS – The Purple and Gold men’s outdoor track and field team have cracked the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Top-25 and given the squad its highest-ever ranking in DC history. The team currently sits No. 18 in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Div. III rankings.

The Yellow Jacket's path to the top-20 national mark has been paved by its outstanding senior thrower Tom Postema. In three separate events of the discus, hammer throw and shot put, the Defiance, Ohio, native holds a top-5 spot in the entire country for Div. III. Postema's best mark comes in the hammer, where he has the No.1 ranking with a distance of 62.19 meters.
Also chipping in on the work load has been sophomore Troy Parrett. The Cedarville High product has sprinted an 800-meter time of 1:53.87 placing him second in the Great Lakes Region and 27th in Div. III. Parrett's time also gives him the top seed at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships this weekend.
For the long-distance runners, senior Hayden Krick and junior Joe Davis have been crucial in the Jackets solid season. Davis concluded the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships as the 5,000-meter champion with a time of 15:07.38, putting him first in the HCAC. Krick owns the top conference time in the 10,000-meter run, after clocking in a time of 32.10.66 at All-Ohio.
The Defiance track and field team will be competing in the HCAC Outdoor Conference Championships tomorrow Friday, April 26. The competition is being hosted by the Spartans of Manchester University. Action at the meet is slated to kick off at 12:00 p.m.
