The Purple and Gold Get Edged Out by Franklin (Ind.)
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The Defiance College men’s tennis team traveled to Indianapolis, Ind. to face Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Franklin (Ind.) College and fell to the Grizzlies by a match score of 9-0.
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The Defiance College men's tennis team traveled to Indianapolis, Ind. to face Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Franklin (Ind.) College and fell to the Grizzlies by a match score of 9-0.
Both teams battled in doubles play, but the Yellow Jackets (8-11, 2-6 HCAC) gave all three matches to the Grizzlies (5-8, 4-3 HCAC). The first doubles team of James Demeo (Oregon/Clay) and Adam Swisher (Bedford, Mich. /Bedford) fought to an 8-4 decision, the second doubles team of Tory Savage (Bryan) and Brian Kurtz (Sandusky/Perkins) worked to an 8-5 final score while the third doubles team of Eline Widman (Tiffin/Tiffin Columbian) and Nathan Height (Wabash, Ind. /Wabash) was defeated 8-4.
In singles play, Demeo, Swisher and Widman battled to a third-set decision, which were the closest matches of the afternoon, but eventually the advantage ended in favor of the Grizzlies, to finalize the 9-0 match victory.
