Pioneers Blank the Yellow Jackets
LEXINGTON, KY. – The Defiance College men’s tennis team traveled to Lexington, Ky. to face Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Transylvania (Ky.) University and fell to the Pioneers, 9-0.
LEXINGTON, KY. – The Defiance College men's tennis team traveled to Lexington, Ky. to face Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Transylvania (Ky.) University and fell to the Pioneers, 9-0.
The Pioneers (1-4, 1-0 HCAC) took an early 3-0 advantage over the Yellow Jackets (6-7, 1-2 HCAC) after sweeping doubles play.
Singles play proved to be the same, as Transylvania won all six singles matches to secure the 9-0 victory. Junior James Demeo (Oregon/Clay) and sophomore Adam Swisher (Bedford, Mich. /Bedford) had the closest singles matches of the afternoon. Demeo played first singles and finished with a 7-5, 6-1 match score, while Swisher played second singles and worked to a 6-3, 6-3 decision.
DC will return to action on Monday, Apr. 11 when they travel to Tiffin, Ohio to face Heidelberg University in non-conference action. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
