Streak Cut Short by Alma
DEFIANCE, OHIO – The Defiance College men’s tennis team fell by a match score of 7-2 to Alma (Mich.) College snapping a two-match win streak, in non-conference action at the George M. Smart Athletic Center.
DEFIANCE, OHIO – The Defiance College men's tennis team fell by a match score of 7-2 to Alma (Mich.) College snapping a two-match win streak, in non-conference action at the George M. Smart Athletic Center.
Alma (4-2) started strong by earning victories over Defiance (2-1) in all three doubles slots. The first doubles team of junior James Demeo (Oregon/Clay) and sophomore Adam Swisher (Bedford, Mich. /Bedford) had the closest doubles match with a final score of 8-4.
In singles play, Demeo and Swisher were the only Yellow Jackets to earn tallies in the win category. Demeo played first singles and forced his opponent to a third-set decision and won 3-6, 6-1, 10-8. Swisher had a hard battle at the second singles position and defeated his Scot foe, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Sunday, Mar. 6 when they face Roosevelt (Ill.) University in Hilton Head, S.C. The match time is to be announced.
