Men's Tennis falls in tight battle to Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Defiance College Yellow Jackets Men's Tennis team suffered its first defeat in HCAC play this season in a tightly contested battle to Rose-Hulman on Friday night.
After falling to a 3-0 deficit early on in doubles, the Yellow Jackets came back in a strong effort with several tightly contested battles in singles play. Defiance went on to win three singles games in the match, but fell to Rose-Hulman 6-3 overall.
James Demeo, Justin Walker, and Tory Savage picked up victories in singles play for DC. Demeo picked up his team leading ninth victory in singles play on the season and improved to 2-0 in HCAC play after winning 6-0, 6-2.
Walker picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win for his sixth victory of the season. It was also his second HCAC win of the season in singles play.
Savage had the closest victory for Defiance on the night, winning comfortably 6-1 in game 1, but needing a seventh game victory in set two for a 7-5 win to seal the match. The win was Savage's first singles victory on the season as he improved to 1-2 in singles play.
Defiance will travel to Indiana University-East on Monday for a non-conference match before returning home next Wednesday for its next HCAC match against Manchester.
