DC Tennis Notches Pair of HCAC Victories

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's tennis team hosted Franklin and Mount St. Joseph on Saturday afternoon and dispatched of both the Grizzlies and the Lions to sweep the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tri-match.

DC saw its top four players go unbeaten on the way to a 7-2 victory over MSJ. Will Draur, Tyler Ault, Austin Kleman and Trevor Ault each won both of their competitions, while Mark Vandevender earned a straight-set victory at No. 6 singles to round out the scoring for the Yellow Jackets.

The second match saw much of the same, as DC won the top two doubles matches to take a 2-1 edge into the singles action. The Jackets then sealed the 5-1 victory as Kleman and Trevor Ault won in straight-sets at No. 3 and 4 singles, while Austin Gray completed the action with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles.

Defiance (7-9, 5-2 HCAC) will round out its home schedule on Tuesday with a 3:30 pm match against Findlay, before rounding out the regular season at Huntington on Friday.
