Men’s Tennis Blanks Manchester in HCAC Action
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men’s tennis team won for the third time in its last four matches and picked up its first shutout victory of the season with a convincing, 9-0, triumph over Manchester College on Thursday.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's tennis team won for the third time in its last four matches and picked up its first shutout victory of the season with a convincing, 9-0, triumph over Manchester College on Thursday. The win moved DC into third in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings.
The Yellow Jackets had little trouble with the Spartans lineup, sweeping the doubles matches and winning all six singles competitions in straight sets. Austin Kleman and Trevor Ault had the most impressive showings, as Kleman won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Ault matched that result at No. 4. The duo then teamed for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles to help set the tone for the 9-0 team victory.
Defiance improves to 4-7 overall and 2-1 in the HCAC with the win and will look to continue its strong play when it travels to Anderson on Saturday for a tri-match with the Ravens and Transylvania.
