Jackets Drop 5-4 Match at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. – Defiance College saw its two-match win streak snapped on Tuesday evening in a one-point loss at Adrian. The Yellow Jackets came up just short, falling 5-4 in the non-conference match.

The Ault brothers continued their strong play, helping Defiance to its four wins. Tyler defeated David Blaker, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Trevor topped Anthony Honeywell by the same score at No. 4 singles to give the Jackets their only victories in the singles competitions.

Tyler also teamed with William Draur to secure an 8-5 win at the top doubles match, while Trevor and Austin Kleman made quick work of Honeywell and Blaker with an 8-1 triumph at the No. 2 doubles match.

The host Bulldogs (6-5) would win at No. 3 doubles however and go on to win four of the six singles matches to take the 5-4 team win over Defiance.

DC (3-7) will get back into the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference with its next match on April 8 against Manchester. Defiance will host that competition against the Spartans, beginning at 4:00 pm.
