DC Tennis Tops Goshen in 2010 Home Opener
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men’s tennis team continued its strong play since returning from a spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's tennis team continued its strong play since returning from a spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. The Jackets improved to 3-1 since their return with a convincing, 8-1, victory against Goshen College on Saturday morning.
The match was controlled by DC throughout, as William Draur and Tyler Ault scored an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles and Austin Kleman combined with Trevor Ault to secure an 8-2 victory at the No. 2 doubles match.
The Jackets swept all six singles competitions to finish off the 8-1 team victory. Tyler Ault, Austin Kleman, Trevor Ault and Austin Gray each recorded their wins in straight sets at the 2-5 singles clashes, while William Draur pulled out a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 and Mark Vandevender earned a 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 victory at No. 6.
Defiance (3-6, 1-1 HCAC) will play another non-conference tilt on Tuesday, as it heads north to challenge Adrian (4-4) at 4:00 pm.
