DC Men’s Tennis Drops First Match at Hilton Head
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Defiance College men’s tennis team kicked off its spring break in Hilton Head, S.C., on Sunday with a 7-2 loss to Wittenberg.
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Defiance College men's tennis team kicked off its spring break in Hilton Head, S.C., on Sunday with a 7-2 loss to Wittenberg. The match was the first of five that DC is scheduled to play over the course of the next week.
The Jackets dropped two of the three doubles contests, with the team of Tim Kurtz and Austin Kleman scoring the lone win for the Yellow Jackets. The No. 2 tandem got Defiance on the board with the 8-4 victory.
Wittenberg continued to control the action throughout singles play, winning five of the six matchups in straight sets. Adam Fausey was the only Defiance player to pick up a victory, edging WU's Andy Lamb at No. 4 with a 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 score.
Defiance falls to 2-3 with the loss and will be back in action on Tuesday when it takes on Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 9:00 am and Mount Union at 2:00 pm.
