TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Defiance College men's soccer team dropped their first match in conference play Saturday afternoon at Rose-Hulman by a score of 5-0 with all five goals coming in the first half.
The loss drops the Yellow Jackets to 4-5-4 overall and 1-1-2 in the HCAC. The Fightin' Engineers improve to 4-0-0 in conference play and 8-3-1 overall.
Chase Kedzoir put Rose-Hulman on top in the 16th minute and the Fightin' Engineers never looked back as four different players scored for them in the game. The Engineers would also score in the 28th minute, 32nd minute, 37th minute, and would add their fifth and final goal in the 42nd minute. Rose-Hulman held a 12-3 advantage in shots during the first half.
The Yellow Jackets had a multitude of opportunities in the second half to try to climb back into this one but they were unable to score despite statistically dominating in the second half.
Defiance had eight corner kicks in the game with all eight coming in the second half. The Yellow Jackets also held a 7-5 advantage in shots during the second half.
Orry Killam started in goal, played 31 minutes and was credited with the loss. Killam made two saves and allowed three. Austin Boles appeared in goal for the first time this year and played 58 minutes, allowed two goals, and made four saves.
Will Gehlhausen, Riley Hensley, and Griffin Meyer were the only Yellow Jackets to record multiple shot attempts in the game. Five of Defiance's ten shots in the game landed on goal.
The Yellow Jackets return to Winsper-Knobel Field Wednesday afternoon for another big game against Anderson at 3:30 p.m.
