CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Defiance College men's soccer team lost their first road game of the season Wednesday night at Case Western Reserve by a score of 3-0. The Spartans improve to 3-0-0 and the loss drops the Yellow Jackets to 0-3-0.
The Case Western Reserve offense kept the Yellow Jacket back line on their toes all night long. The Spartans had the advantage in the offensive categories. The Spartans outshot the Yellow Jackets 37-2 including 19-1 in the first half. The Spartans also registered 16 corner kicks in the game compared to only one by Defiance.
Camden Larson found the back of the net 18 minutes into the contest for Case Western. For the next 54 minutes, Defiance's defense held their own to give the offense a chance to get back into it but the majority of the game was spent with the ball in Case Western's hands and constantly put pressure on the DC defense.
The Spartans found the back of the net again twice in a two minute span late in the second half, scoring in the 72nd minute and 74th minute.
Quinn Holtzapple recorded the shot attempt in the first half for the Yellow Jackets and Jack Stanoikovich recorded the lone attempt in the second half and the only shot on goal attempt in the game. Of the 37 shots the Spartans attempted in the game, only 12 were on goal and Orry Killam saved nine of them.
The Yellow Jackets hit the road again Saturday for a match against Alma at 3 p.m.
