DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's soccer team cruised to an easy victory this afternoon against the Grace Bible Tigers, winning 5-0. With this win, the Yellow Jackets are now 4-1-2, making this their best start since 1996 (4-1).
Defiance took only four shots in the first half, but was able to capitalize on one, opening the scoring in the 17th minute. Jarren Casto found Christian Meister for the first of his two goals on the day, putting the Jackets up 1-0.
The second half was all DC, scoring four more consecutive goals while holding the Tigers to just four shots. Vuyo Ndebele was first to strike after halftime, driving a header to the back of the net in the 52nd minute for his first goal on the season. He was quickly followed by Meister's second strike, escalating the Jacket lead to 3-0.
Andrew Brown received a perfect pass at the foot of Jarod Brossia, allowing him to sink a second header on the Tiger defense at the 70:09 minute-mark. With three minutes remaining in regulation, Juan Olvera capped the match off with the fifth and final goal, to end things 5-0. He was assisted by Sean VandeWiele.
Meister led Defiance with three shots on goal and two goals. In goal, Clay Musgrave made two saves.
DC looks to continue their powerful dominance next week as they travel to take on Huntington University on Wednesday, September 20. Kickoff is set for 4:00 PM.
