NEW WILMINGTON, PA. – The Defiance College men's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season, falling 4-0 to Westminster College this afternoon in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.
Westminster took the early lead in the 23rd minute on a through ball, sneaking just past keeper Clay Musgrave. Several athletic saves from Musgrave kept the Titans' advantage within reach for the Yellow Jackets at 1-0 at the half.
However, a second half surge from the home team put Defiance in a hole. An early goal from WC at the 57 minute-mark improved their lead to 2-0 before they struck again ten minutes later.
With just over 15 minutes left in action, the Titans added a fourth and final insurance goal, preserving Westminster's clean sheet.
Defiance was contained to just five shots, three on goal, while the Titans finished with 26 shots, 15 on goal. Christian Meister led DC with two shots, both on goal while Jacob Carriveau added two shots, one on goal. While in net, Musgrave made 10 saves.
The Yellow Jackets are back on the pitch tomorrow afternoon as they travel to the Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to face Carlow University.
