DC Loses Battle of the Yellow Jackets

BEREA, OHIO – The Defiance College men's soccer team couldn't find the net in a tough battle with Baldwin Wallace University, falling 2-0.

Sophomore midfielder Victor Trifiro (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) tried to kick-start the offense for Defiance (1-8-1) with the first shot of the game that was blocked by the Baldwin Wallace (3-7) defense.

The Yellow Jackets kept the Baldwin Wallace defense on its toes when freshman defender Nick Kleptz (Troy) had a header at the 14:33 mark that just sailed wide.

Trifiro had one more shot on target before the half, but couldn't find the back of the net, keeping the score 0-0 into halftime.

After intermission, Baldwin Wallace came out strong scoring within the first two minutes taking the lead and making the score 1-0.

The Yellow Jackets kept playing strong, Trifiro once again had another shot that was saved by the Baldwin Wallace goalie. Baldwin Wallace pulled away at the 63:06 mark when they added another goal making the score 2-0.

Defiance failed to get any more shots from there on out and Baldwin Wallace came up with the big home victory.

In the net for the Yellow Jackets, sophomore goalie Damian Koester (Englewood/Brookville) recorded six saves.

The Purple & Gold will host Muskingum University tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m.
