Yellow Jackets fall to Ravens, 2-1, Wednesday

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Yellow Jackets traveled to Anderson Wednesday night and the Ravens topped DC by a score of 2-1. Defiance now sits with a record of 8-8 and 3-3 in the HCAC.
Anderson and Defiance both came into the match up as two of the teams fighting for that last postseason spot. Both teams are now tied for fifth with nine points apiece.
The Yellow Jackets came out fast against the Ravens, taking five of the first eight shots on the game. Neither team gave way for a goal though, as the score midway through the game was at a mark of 0-0.
Just 15 minutes into the second half, Anderson had already taken four shots compared to none for DC. Five minutes later in the 65th minute, the Ravens broke through on a rebound off the crossbar to go up 1-0.
The Defiance offense could not get going in the second half as Defiance was only able to manage four shots.
In the 87th minute, Anderson added an insurance goal, that proved to me much needed, going up 2-0 with just three minutes left.
The Yellow Jackets were able to make the game interesting down to the wire with a goal a minute later. Dylan Dorley (Macomb, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) let go a shot that found its way passed the goalie and into the net to cut he lead to 2-1.
Neither team was able to get another look though, closing the game at 2-1 and tying the two teams at fifth place in the HCAC.
On the game, Anderson out shot Defiance 20-10, including 9-2 in shots on goal. Anderson also had four corners in the game while DC was left without a set piece chance from the corner.
The Yellow Jackets play again on Saturday at 3:30 pm against Transylvania. It will be the last home match of the season for DC and senior day.
