ADA, Ohio – On an afternoon where the weather was not very permitting, neither was the home team as the No. 4 ranked Ohio Northern Polar Bears took care of business against the Defiance men's soccer squad. The defeat dropped the Jackets to 0-3 on the year, while ONU improved to 4-0.
The game did not start off pretty as kickoff was accompanied by heavy rain and oncoming thunderstorms, but DC's problems only got worse as the Polar Bears notched three goals in the first 18 minutes of the match.
DC's defense then tightened up and played out the rest of the first half without allowing anymore scores to head into halftime down 3-0.
After another score by ONU 15 minutes into the second half, a bright spot came out for the Jackets on the ugly afternoon, as sophomore Chad Brooks scored his first goal of the season in the 62nd minute to make it 4-1. The score was only the second goal allowed by Northern on the season.
However, the Polar Bears tacked on another goal later on in the half to seal the game as the score went final at 5-1.
DC's will play tomorrow, September 8th, in Ada once again as they face Baldwin-Wallace in a neutral match. The game is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
