DC Notches First HCAC Victory
FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s soccer team won its first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game of the season on Saturday.

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Defiance College men's soccer team won its first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game of the season on Saturday. The Jackets traveled to Franklin and defeated the Grizzlies by a score of 3-1.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early lead against Franklin when sophomore midfielder Evan Allen scored in the 18th minute. Assisting on the play was sophomore Jaiden Henderson. The goal was Allen's second of the season.
Less than one minute later DC struck again when freshman forward Kevin Arriola found the back of the net to give the Jackets a 2-0 advantage. The goal was also Arriola's second of the 2011 campaign.
The Grizzlies attempted to claw their way back into the match when Franklin's Craig Wood scored with just under seven minutes to go in the first half. The goal gave the game a 2-1 score heading into halftime.
Defiance did not waste anytime increasing its lead back to two goals when senior Joe Loftis scored a magnificent free kick from 25 yards from goal while just 10 minutes into the second frame. The goal makes Loftis the leader in goals scored on the season with four.
After the Jackets third goal of the game they played solid defense without allowing anymore goals to give DC a 3-1 victory.
Three goals are the most DC has scored in a single game this season. The win moves Defiance's HCAC record to 1-2 on the year.
The Jackets next game is on Wednesday, October 12 on the road against Manchester College for a HCAC matchup. The game is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
