DEFIANCE, Ohio – The men's soccer team faced off against an undefeated squad from Trine University on Wednesday, and suffered a 3-0 loss as they moved to 2-2-1 on the season. The three goals surrendered were the fewest Trine has scored against any opponent this year.
After 40 minutes of scoreless play to start the match, Trine's Femi Adediji scored off an assist from Andre Hilson to give the Thunder a 1-0 advantage going into halftime. Curtis Holcom would find his fifth goal of the season early in the second half, and TU's Foster Webb found the net in the 63rd minute to put the game out of reach.
The three goals allowed were the most given up by DC's defense this season, which entered the game allowing just one goal per game to opponents. Defiance was able to muster eight shots in the match, including two on goal from Kyle Johnson, but Trine kept the Jackets off the board for just the second time this year.
Defiance will play in their first road game of the season on Saturday, September 18, when they travel to Michigan for a match with Rochester College. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
