Cannon earned All-HCAC honors for the first time, starting 16 matches for the Jackets while splitting time between the defender and midfielder positions. The senior captain wrapped up his three-year career having started 42 matches, while anchoring a DC defense that notched six shutouts in that span. "Chris was a presence in the midfield for us this season," said head coach Alden Lawrence. "He is very confident on ball and provided great leadership for the young guys, as they adjusted to collegiate soccer."
Elson is one of five freshmen to earn All-HCAC honors in 2008, as the defender established himself as one of the top defenders in the conference. The Wauseon, Ohio native started all 17 matches for Defiance, helping the DC defense record one shutout on the season. "Kevin came in right away and gave us a solid defensive presence," Lawrence said. "He got stronger and more confident as the year went on and is a player that we will count on defensively for the next few seasons."
The all-conference selections are nominated and voted on by the league's head coaches and are announced by the HCAC conference office.
