Men’s Soccer Falls to Anderson, 3-1

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Anderson University on Saturday, September 27. The Jackets fell to 0-1 in the HCAC, while remaining winless with a 0-8 overall mark.
Anderson's David Droeger broke a scoreless tie in the 35th minute, scoring on a ball from Stephen Girt to give the Ravens a 1-0 advantage. AU would push its lead to two on Matt Robinson's score in the 47th minute, before the Jackets were able to close the gap. Adam Collins scored the first goal of his collegiate career off a pass from Tony Cornell to draw DC within one, 2-1. However, Anderson would squash any ideas of a comeback, scoring just over a minute later to push the lead back to two, 3-1.
Defiance had a season-high 15 shots in the match, including six shots on goal. Cornell led the Jackets with four shots on the day, while Collins, Chris Kessler and Greg Vogt had two shots apiece. Mitch Livensparger collected five saves from his keeper position for DC.
Defiance returns to action on Tuesday, September 30, when it travels to Ohio Northern University for a 4:00 p.m. match.
